Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets fresh or thawed
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce low sodium recommended
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ginger freshly grated
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 green onions chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade

  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, olive oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. This creates a flavorful marinade that will give the salmon a delicious glaze.

Marinate the Salmon

  • Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a ziplock bag. Pour half of the marinade over the fillets and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes. This helps the flavors soak into the fish while you prepare the cooking process.

Cook the Salmon

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a little olive oil. Place the marinated salmon fillets skin-side down in the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the skin is crispy.

Add the Glaze

  • Flip the salmon and pour the remaining marinade into the pan. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, spooning the glaze over the salmon as it thickens. The honey will help create a beautiful caramelized coating.

Finish & Garnish

  • Once the salmon is fully cooked (it should flake easily with a fork), remove it from the heat. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top for extra flavor and presentation.
